The main advantage, unlike sowing earlier, is that the typical essential and methodical watering is not necessary. The snowmelt in the spring will activate the process.
Start with a light scraping to create openings and then spread the seeds. Cover with a thin layer of soil and tamp everything lightly. It’s that simple!
