Sow in November? It is possible, and even very beneficial.
We call this technique « dormant seedlings because the seeds are, as the name says, frozen on the ground and « sleeping » while waiting for spring or thaw, then heat will activate their germination at the same time as other plants.
The main advantage, unlike sowing earlier, is that the typical essential and methodical watering is not necessary. The snowmelt in the spring will activate the process.
Start with a light scraping to create openings and then spread the seeds. Cover with a thin layer of soil and tamp everything lightly. It’s that simple!
You can use many types of lawn seeds. Whether you choose traditional lawn grass, clover, shade or sun seeds, the principle applies to all.
